WIE presentation-Resources
January 21, 2010
Tonight I am presenting for OSU’s Society of Women in Engineering on the topic of Body Language. This is an exciting opportunity to discuss my research and issues of the body and constructs of power! Dante Brown and I will be performing a newly revised version of “Anatomy of an Argument”, a piece created in 2003.
I am compiling a list of resources utilized for this presentation:
Carrie Noland: Agency & Embodiment
Brian Rotman’s September publication titled “Gesture, or the Body without Organs of Speech”

I have just finished reading Andre Lepecki’s article on Jerome Bel and was inspired by the consideration of critical theory in choreography. This reading is a part of the literature review for a paper on the analysis of movement. It seems a little tricky to discuss given Bel’s inclination towards the “still-act” but if I continue my inquiry on meaning through movement, I find a path.

I move to move with you….

Here are some thoughts from the book I am currently reading by Erin Manning titled Relationscapes:
I move to move with you to move with them to move you moving me.
Space and Body are in continuous shifting dialogue
Preacceleration is the expression of movement’s capacity for invention
“to divest your body of movement, as opposed to thinking you are producing movement”-Forsyth
“to find movement is to work with preacceleration” -Forsyth
Movement is a technology of the becoming body. Preacceleration is like the breath that releases speech.

Process Possibilities
November 1, 2009
I am thinking of trying to schedule an evening length work in a few months (or maybe in March, depending on space availability). One thought I had, in addition to restaging a few of my old pieces is to have one or two of CoMec rep (Eddy/Enchante)?? I could apply for some funding and fly you both here, once or twice to rehearse. I am working on a new piece, a duet and collaborating with Nicole for the installation. I am playing with the evening being a different performance experience from the beginning…..and have some lovely movers here that we can work with!

Hello my lovelies,
This can be our communication forum while we are in distinctly different geographic regions but wanting to maintain our creative process with each other.
Beginning thoughts included three solos to be made by each of us. Possibly with the idea of having a trio commissioned and set on us and presenting in each current hometown.
Miche just had an idea of having a choreographer in each town work with each of the solos to create trios.
